  • Cheerleaders Can Benefit From SpiderTech for Pain Relief

    GO SPIDERTECH!

Over the past few decades cheerleading has grown by leaps and bounds (literally). It was estimated in 2002 that there were 3.5 million cheerleaders in the U.S. As the number of participants continue to grow so does the risk of injury. As cheerleading evolved over the past few decades the routines have become more difficult. It is not uncommon to see high level gymnastic movements done by cheerleaders.  According to a 2012 position policy and report from the American Academy of Pediatrics, cheerleading accounted for approximately 66 % of all catastrophic injuries suffered by high school girls over the past 25 years.

The most common mechanisms for injury are basing or spotting, tumbling and falls. Injuries to the lower extremity are the most common. These are followed by upper extremity, head and neck, and trunk injuries. The most common type of injuries are strains and sprains. The areas that I personally see the most are the lower back, knees and shoulders. This mostly occurs from constant overuse due to poor body mechanics during lifting and spotting, as well as muscular imbalances. To help remedy this situation, Kinesiology taping is done as an adjunct to other treatment therapies.

Spider Tech is a great adjunct to help reduce the stress placed on the cheerleader’s body from the rigors of training. It is not uncommon for a cheerleader to complain of more than one body part hurting. During the competitive season any down time can lead to a poor performance. To help get through the minor strains and sprains pre-cut SpiderTech applications are essential. They are easy to apply and they are great to take to competitions. It is not uncommon for an overuse injury to creep up right before a competition. In this scenario a complicated tape job for a parent or coach not trained in kinesiology taping would be out of the question. However, with the SpiderTech pre-cuts, support and healing to the area can be achieved with limited effort. SpiderTech pre-cuts are available at Walmart and other retailers near you, plus if you go to tryspidertech.com you can sign up for a mail in rebate to get your first pack free!

  • Can Anyone Use Athletic Tape to Treat a Muscle Injury?

One common question many people have is whether they can use athletic tape to treat a muscle injury, or if this tape is only for athletes. No matter whether you are a sports professional player, or a normal person suffering from chronic low back pain or a strained, sprained, or torn muscle, you are free to use sports tape to help aid in the healing process. Just make sure you select the proper taping product, because there are differences, such as how long you wear them, and how difficult they are to apply. Continue reading

  • SpiderTech Has Features Not Found in Regular Athletic Tape

Regular athletic tape does not provide the same features as SpiderTech tape products. With regular tape, you have to cut each section. There are no exclusive pre-cut designs to choose from that help save you time when applying the tape to your body. If the tape gets wet from water or body sweat, it starts to peel off. Further, depending upon the materials it is made from, it could contain latex or other such products which can cause allergic reactions in some people.

Frequently, you have to get help when applying regular athletic tape to ensure it is correctly secured in the right locations on your body. The tape often has to be reapplied throughout the course of the sporting event if it starts to come off. You can easily avoid these issues, and others, by switching to SpiderTech taping products.

Our products are designed to be simple and easy to apply even on your own. Due to the advanced technology in our taping products, it adheres firmly to your skin and creates a natural extension without any restrictions in movement or mobility. It is waterproof and stays on even under the most strenuous activities. You can wear the tape for up to five days, if needed. Just remember, once it is removed, it cannot be reused.

When you take into account the amount of time you save by not having to cut each piece, as well as the elimination of waste, ease of use and longer wear-ability, and that fewer applications are required, the results are that our pre-cut products are comparable in price to other applications.

  • Knee Support for Runners Includes Athletic Tape

Running involves the constant movement and bending of the knees. As your foot hits the ground, if it is not placed correctly, it could cause your muscles to react by tensing up in response from the improper placement. In addition, if you misstep, you may trip and fall down, causing injury to your legs, knees, and other areas of your body. While you are responsible for paying attention to where you are running, SpiderTech has knee support for runners’ solutions with their pre-cut taping products.

Tape is not the only type of knee support available. There are also braces and pads that you might use. However, while these products are well suited to provide protection after receiving an injury, they tend to get in your way and hamper your range of motion as you run. Athletic tape, on the other hand, adheres directly to your skin and is elastic, so it bends and moves without any restrictions. Because it simulates an extension of your skin, it creates additional support and strength to your knees.

In addition to knee support for runners, there are other pre-cut SpiderTech tape products to choose from for other areas of your body. You could strengthen your lower back and shoulders. You might also want to tape your hamstrings, ankles, and groin area. Just remember to apply the tape to clean skin for best adhesion. The tape is waterproof, so you do not have to worry your sweat causing it to come loose.
