What is the Pregnancy Spider Tape?

The Pregnancy Spider Tape is a drug-free, safe alternative, which can help relieve many pregnancy symptoms including back pain, swollen feet, sciatica, and other aches and pains. The Pregnancy Spider Tape is an ideal option for expectant mothers seeking relief from the physical ailments associated with pregnancy. Its pre-cut shape allows easy application by yourself.

What is the Pregnancy Spider Tape Made of?

All SpiderTech Tapes are made using 95% cotton/5% Spandex, with a 100% poly acrylic adhesive. They are drug-free, latex-free, gluten-free, and hypoallergenic. Pregnancy Spider Tape is a stretchy, cotton-mesh fabric tape that is latex free, breathable and waterproof. The tape was designed to mimic the properties of skin, while the glue itself has a wavelike pattern that imitates the pattern of a fingerprint. The glue is body heat activated, and the tape allows the skin to breathe and moisture to evaporate.

What Pain Does Pregnancy Spider Tape Target?

Sciatica

Sciatica can result in agonizing pain that is debilitating and disabling – it makes it painful to sit, stand up, get out of a car, walk, and even sleep. The pain worsens when coughing, sneezing, and sitting on soft surfaces, or sitting for an extended period of time. Sciatic nerve pain can feel like tingling, numbness, burning, or stabbing, originating in the lower back and extending down to the hips, buttocks, down the backside of the legs and to the feet.

Belly Cramps

Pregnancy Spider Tape helps with belly cramps. Stomach pains or cramps are common in pregnancy, and usually nothing to worry about. Mild stomach pain in early pregnancy (during the first 12 weeks) is usually caused by your womb expanding, the ligaments stretching as your bump grows. It can also be caused by hormones, constipation or trapped wind.

Round Ligament Pain

Round ligament pain is a sharp pain or jabbing feeling often felt in the lower belly or groin area on one or both sides. It is one of the most common complaints, and is considered a normal part of pregnancy, most often felt during the second trimester.

The round ligament connects the front part of the womb to your groin, the area where your legs attach to your pelvis. The round ligament normally tightens and relaxes slowly. As your baby and womb grow, the round ligament stretches, making it more likely to become strained.

Lower Back Pain

When you are pregnant the hormone Relaxin is produced, and it continues to rise during the first trimester, and in the final weeks of pregnancy. This hormone, as the name suggests, "relaxes" or loosens the muscles, tendons and ligaments in the body in order to allow the body to accommodate the growing baby. This hormone also breaks down collagen and prevents it from being synthesized.

So what does all this mean? Well firstly, the increased weight of the belly means your pelvis tilts forward and as a result, your back compensates by arching back further i.e. the curve in your back deepens in order for you to maintain your balance. This "hyperlordotic" position can then cause the joints in your back to jam up, and be irritated as the normal lubrication and movement through them is reduced.

Hip Pain

The pain may be focused on the side or the back of the hip, or in the general pelvic girdle area. It may feel dull or sharp, and come on gradually or suddenly. Essentially, when the joint itself is loose, the ligaments become lax, and the muscles, which usually stabilise the pelvis, aren’t able to work as efficiently. When you add all this to the increased load on the baby, you have an unstable pelvis which often causes pain.

Benefits of Pregnancy Spider Tape for Pregnant Women

Provides Natural Pain Relief

During pregnancy, anything ingested can be transferred to the unborn child, and because of this, most mothers-to-be try to avoid over the counter medications and prescription pain relievers. Many, instead, opt for natural remedies to ease discomfort. Kinesiology tape is a drug-free, safe alternative that can help relieve many pregnancy symptoms including back pain, swollen feet, sciatica, carpal tunnel, and other aches and pains. Because of this, it is an ideal option for expectant mothers seeking relief from the physical ailments associated with pregnancy.

Brings Comfort

Made from 95% cotton/5% Spandex, with a 100% poly acrylic adhesive, the Pregnancy Spider Tape is almost identical to skin in thickness and elasticity, allowing it to interact easily with the human body. The natural elasticity of the tape gently lifts the skin, allowing excess fluid to drain away and relieving pressure on pain receptors. It can be applied anywhere there is pain, swelling, spasm or weakness. When applied correctly, it begins working immediately, and can last up to 2 weeks.

No Heavy Bracing

The Pregnancy Spider Tape is completely comfortable to wear and is also water resistant, so expectant mothers can wear it while showering, swimming or even exercising. For most pregnant women, the ability to get continuous relief for several days can be a godsend. Being uncomfortable or in pain while pregnant can make sleeping difficult, and because kinesiology tape can be worn while sleeping, it can help provide much needed rest. Unlike pregnancy belts, which can be restrictive, uncomfortable and costly, kinesiology tape can offer similar support, while still allowing full range of motion at a much more affordable price. The Pregnancy Spider tape is also available in a variety of colours and sizes.

No Chemicals

Unlike medications, the tape contains no chemicals that could hurt or affect your baby. It provides treatment almost immediately upon application, and provides 24/7 relief. You can shower and sleep with the tape on, as it is a fuss-free, gentle solution. Not only can you use tape on your belly, but you can also use it for common pregnancy ailments such as carpal tunnel, swollen feet, and sciatica.

Economical

One of the benefits of using the Pregnancy Spider tape is that it is more economical over time than other modalities. It is easy to apply, and may be used over a longer period of time.

Posture Correction

Pregnancy Spider Tape can also be beneficial for pregnant women suffering from sciatica, a painful condition caused by the additional weight of an expanding uterus. As the baby grows, it applies pressure on the sciatic nerve in the lower part of the spine, causing lower back pain. When the baby begins shifting into position in the third trimester, it can rest directly on the nerve, causing a shooting pain throughout the backside and legs. Taping can be beneficial in providing additional support to the area, and increasing blood flow to the surrounding muscles, greatly easing pain.

Helps With Back Pain

Lower back pains can be alleviated by applying one Pregnancy Spider Tape kinesiology tape under your baby bump so your belly is supported. Those who feel more pain in their abdominal area will benefit from the Pregnancy Spider Tape the most.

Non-Irritating

The soft, elastic kinesiology tape is comfortable to wear, and it contains no medications. Its hypoallergenic adhesive is safe and non-irritating. The best thing about kinesiology taping during pregnancy is that it can dramatically relieve many of the physical discomforts that can make pregnancy very uncomfortable.
